James’s equestrian journey began at age 5, when he first fell in love with the horse world and knew this was his path. By age 9, he was riding consistently, growing up in Hunter/Equitation lessons and developing a passion for mounted drill teams. By 2015, James was teaching riders of all ages and skill levels, focusing on confidence and skill-building through hands-on, practical training. James has competed in three Extreme Mustang Makeovers (EMM) which taught him a love for groundwork and desensitization, participated in Eventing at the Beginner Novice level, and founded and coached both a Drill Team and a Showteam.
James has found that incorporating fun into lessons is a wonderful way to build kids' confidence, helping young riders feel more comfortable and connected to their horses. His teaching philosophy is straightforward: he will match his students’s energy to guide them to their goals with always a little room for fun.
James observes and makes note of how each horse’s personality blends—or sometimes clashes—with different riders, using these insights to guide both horses and students as they grow together with confidence and resilience.
